The Greenhouse

Trainees have a unique opportunity to expand their skills in the emerging sustainable technologies market with the help of a fully-functional residential property on the College site that has been fitted with the very best equipment in renewable energy.
Redcar & Cleveland College, in partnership with leading supplier Viessmann, has developed The Green House, which has been equipped with a range of power-saving materials, from solar panels and Photovoltaic (PV) systems to ground and air source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting tanks, which showcase how the latest technologies can be used in sustainable living.
Course participants will be able to see for themselves how the various elements have been installed and maintained, and what benefits they each bring to reducing both costs and the carbon footprint.

The Green House is a realistic domestic environment where students can develop their newly acquired knowledge and practical skills on specially-adapted rigs.
