The Gas Centre

The Gas Centre at Redcar & Cleveland College provides specialist domestic gas training and assessment courses designed to update the skills of plumbers and heating engineers, and other industry professionals, to ensure that gas work is carried out to meet all current standards and regulations.

The Gas Centre also offers a wide range of Water and Energy training programmes.

The Gas Centre is a BPEC (Certification LTD) approved Centre staffed by fully qualified training and assessment staff who can offer advice and support as well as a relaxed environment in which to undertake training assessment.

Meeting new gas standards

Heating and plumbing professionals are being advised to bring their skills up to current standards with new short training courses at Redcar & Cleveland College.

The Gas Centre at the college has launched a new CPA1 Combustion Performance Analysis Assessment, which ensures that gas fitters know how to analyse the flue gases and ensure the boiler is burning correctly.

The Centre is also offering the reassessment of domestic unvented hot water systems course, as it is now five years since the qualification was introduced and the first trainees are now due for reassessment.

The Gas Centre, which is a BPEC (Certification Ltd) approved, provides specialist domestic gas training and assessment courses, designed to update the skills of plumbers, heating engineers and other industry professionals to ensure that gas work is carried out to current standards and regulations.

Peter Marshall, the Gas Centre Co-ordinator, said: “It is essential that all professionals in the industry maintain their skills and certification. At the Gas Centre, we will provide all the advice and support they need in a relaxed environment, using new, state-of-the-art equipment.”

It is supported by the Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering, whose Operations Director Kevin Wellman said: “Education and training is vital to the plumbing and heating industry and forms an important part of each individual’s career development.

“Redcar & Cleveland College is an industrial associate we have worked with closely for some time and we look forward to supporting and developing new initiatives for many years to come.”

The Centre, which also offers a wide range of water and energy training programmes, beat all previous records in assessments last year.
