Introduction

This full-time programme is delivered over three days (including placement) and is a foundation degree for health and social care practitioners.

What will I learn

Level 4 modules: • Learning to Learn • Developing Effective Care Practice • Maintaining the Safety of Vulnerable People and Staff in Care Settings • The Psychosocial Context of Care • Carry out 150 placement hours in a healthcare or social care setting. Students are responsible for arranging their own placements. Level 5 modules: • Applying Effective Care Practice • Principles of Public Health & Wellbeing • Understanding Evidence-Based Practice • Social Care and Support for Individuals with Specific Needs • Carry out 150 placement hours in a healthcare or social care related setting. Students are responsible for arranging their own placements.

How will I learn

Learning will be classroom based with a variety of lectures, electronic resources, group work, presentations and portfolio requirements.

What's next

You can progress onto a range of health and social care programmes determined by students’ own area of interest. Progression on to the final year of the degree programme (Level 6 Top-Up) or employment within health and social care, particularly management roles or an associate practitioner.

The programme is assessed through course work which includes essays, reports, case studies, research reports, portfolio work and placement based assessment.
