College launches new Health and Safety course for employers
Tuesday 10 May 2011
Redcar & Cleveland College has launched a new health and safety qualification aimed at giving managers, supervisors and HR personnel the skills and knowledge to tackle health and well-being at work
Delivered in conjunction with NEBOSH (the National Examination Board in Occupational Health and Safety), the Certificate in Management of Health and Well-being at Work is aimed at anyone who has responsibility for, or involvement in, the health and well-being of employees as part of their day-to-day duties.
The qualification covers key areas of best practice in relation to health and well-being in the workplace and delivers a number of outcomes for those who take part including:
- Identifying risks to health at work
- Learning how to manage sickness absence and implement a return to work programme
- Prevention and management of work related stress
- Management of people with musculoskeletal disorders
- Dealing with mental health at work.
The course is delivered in the college’s NEBOSH approved facilities, which include a state of the art health and safety training room.
Chris Coupland, Commercial Manager at Redcar & Cleveland College, said of the new course:
“As well as the employee undertaking the course, employers can also gain a number of benefits from investing in training of this kind.
“A well implemented health and well-being programme can help reduce absenteeism and staff turnover, leading to increased skill retention, and a reduction in training and recruitment costs. In addition, employee physical and mental well-being is protected and improved, increasing staff morale and leading to increased productivity.
“The cost savings for the organisation can be significant.”
