A talented beauty therapy student has scooped a job at one of the region’s top spas after completing a successful work placement there.

Faye Robinson, aged 24 from Marske was offered the position of Junior Therapist at Rockliffe Hall after undertaking a three-day placements at the hotel’s five star spa as part of her Level 3 course in Beauty Therapy at Redcar & Cleveland College.

During her time at the spa, Faye got to take part in training sessions for the therapists, sit in on treatments and even experience some of the spa's world-class treatments herself.

“As soon as we were told that we’d be able to go on a spa placement at the start of the year I wanted to come to Rockliffe Hall because it has such a good reputation in the industry,” said Faye

“More than anything I’ve enjoyed seeing how the therapists use the treatments and rituals to create an overall experience for the visitors to the spa.”

Faye, who completed her placement at the spa over a busy weekend period, was one of two students from the college who took part in the placement programme at Rockliffe from Redcar, with other students from the college carrying out placements at spas across the region.

“The placement was hard work, but really enjoyable and to be offered a job at the end of it is just a dream come true,” Faye added.

“I can’t wait to complete my course at Redcar and get started!”

The placements were a first for Rockliffe Hall, which was recently named as the top spa destination in the north of England, and according to Head Therapist Charlotte Wilson, the girls from Redcar didn't disappoint. She said:

"This is the first time we've had work placements in from a college in the Tees Valley and we've been massively impressed, so much so that we decided to offer Faye a permanent position with us once she has completed her course.

"In the placement, we tried to give a view of what goes on behind the scenes to make a spa like Rockliffe Hall function at the very high standards we set ourselves, and we were delighted at the attitude and application that Faye has shown.

"Faye worked with us over a particularly busy weekend and showed massive commitment and potential. She has shown a real enthusiasm for the work she was doing and asked all the right questions. We think she has a bright future in the industry."

Debbie Wilson, Faye’s tutor at Redcar & Cleveland College, added:

“We have been steadily growing the numbers of professional placements over the last few years and we have seen a number of employment opportunities come for our students as a result. Faye’s experience at Rockliffe is a great example of how a placement can lead to a direct offer of a job.

“We’re delighted that Faye’s talents have caught the eye of Charlotte and her team at Rockliffe Hall and have no doubt that she’ll be a big success there.

“Faye is an inspiration for all of our students who can see from her experience that, with application and determination, it’s possible to land a prestigious job straight from college."
