Bricklaying courses at Redcar & Cleveland College are designed to prepare you for work. The courses could be the building blocks of your own career and on completion could put you on the right path to a successful future in the construction industry. During your time on the bricklaying course, we have various competitions that you can actively take part in, these include Skillbuild, The Guild of Bricklayers Competition and Inter College Competitions. These competitions give you the chance to compete against other colleges and to travel to different parts of the region.

What will I learn

This course will provide you with introductory bricklaying skills. You will learn how to construct brick, block walling and cavity walls. This course will also teach you how to go about setting out for basic masonry and mixing construction materials

How will I learn

The course has eight modules which include both practical and theoretical content will be covered. You will be assessed by an online unit test at the end of each module. The course is very practical based and the focus will be on learning and practising in the workshop.

What's next

On completion of this course you could progress on to our Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying or secure an apprenticeship.

Additional Information

Full-time 16-18 year olds who do not have a grade 4/C or above in maths and/or English, will attend weekly sessions with specialist tutors to work towards the relevant qualification(s). This is really useful to support you on your main course and is really valued by employers.

We have strong links with local employers who provide guest talks, work placements and apprenticeships.
