Introduction

This course enables you to gain valuable knowledge and experience of children from birth to 7 years. Childcare courses will provide you with skills and knowledge in topics such as first aid, hygiene, health and safety, care skills and record keeping. At the same time, you will develop your practical skills, expand your theoretical knowledge and improve your confidence. Careers in this field involve hard work and long hours but they are very rewarding and provide varied opportunities for career development.

What will I learn

Our level 2 course will cover the roles and responsibilities of the early years practitioner, promoting play in the early years setting and understanding how to support a child’s development. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours in our industry standard craft room, baby rooms and nursery dedicated for our childcare students.

How will I learn

You will learn through a range of formats including lectures and assignments, group work, work placements, demonstrations and guest speakers.

What's next

Once you have completed this course you could further your studies by progressing on to our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Childcare or by securing an apprenticeship.

Additional Information

As part of your programme of study you will be required to complete work experience. This will consist of 1 day per week plus set block placement. You will be supported by the college’s placement officers to find you a suitable employer.

You will have the opportunity to learn your skills in our specialist childcare classrooms, nursery and craft room.
This course will provide you with the opportunity to complete a work placement to develop your skills and knowledge.
Sessions will be delivered by a team of highly experienced tutors who will support to reach your full potential.
