The internet – to join online lessons (please ensure that you have a camera and microphone) Microsoft Office – as a student of Redcar and Cleveland College you will have your own Office login and access to all MS software. Should you wish to complete graphic design you must have your own version of graphic design software or you could attend physical lessons and learn the Photoshop suite. The course is free but if you do not complete the course you will be charged £120

Introduction

The course will enable you to achieve a Level 2 Award in Digital and IT Skills. The course is made up of six credits – this is made up of either one large unit of six credits or two smaller units of three credits each.

What will I learn

Initially your tutor will discuss your IT and Digital needs with you to identify the unit(s) that will be the most beneficial to you. For example, if you would like to (or already do) work in administration Word Processing and Spreadsheets could be the most beneficial. Alternatively, if you work in Social media marketing or in fact run your own small company you may like to enhance your social media marketing and graphic design skills. -There are units for everyone.

How will I learn

Once you have discussed the unit(s) with your tutor. A skills assessment will be undertaken to identify what you cannot do and what you need to learn and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will be signed and agreed between you and the tutor. You will then be given bespoke exercises to match your Individual Learning Plan. Once you are competent you will then undertake assessments.

What's next

Once you have completed the Award (6 credits) you would progress to the Certificate (15 credits) or the Diploma (35 credits)
