Data Protection Act 1998: The College is committed to protecting the personal information of all students, staff, customers and partners. The College recognises its obligations to keep personal information secure and believes it is important to know how we treat their personal information. The information you provide may be passed to government funding agencies. The Education Funding Agency (EFA) is responsible for funding, planning and encouraging education and training for young people and adults in England, and is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998. The information you provide may be shared with other organisations for the purpose of administration, careers and other guidance, and statistical and research purposes.

Other organisations with which we will share information include, the Department for Education, the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, Local Authorities, Higher Education Statistics Agency, Higher Education Funding Council for England, educational institutions and organisations performing research and statistical work on behalf of the EFA or its partners.

The Learning Records Service is operated by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for learners aged 14 years and over and learners registering for relevant post-14 qualifications. This service allocates Unique Learner Numbers (ULNs) which enable the individual to access their Learner Record.

The Learning Record Service will offer the learner the facility to access their participation and achievement data via a website and to share this with other organisations and individuals where permission is granted. Learning activities may be part financed by the EU through the European Social Fund helping develop employment by promoting employability, business spirit and equal opportunities and investing in human resources. At no time will your personal information be passed to organisations for marketing or sales purposes. From time to time students may be contacted to take part in surveys aimed at monitoring performance, improving quality and planning future provision.

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you have a right to a copy of data held about you. If you would like a copy of this data you should apply, in writing, to the Data Protection Officer, Redcar & Cleveland College, Corporation Road, Redcar TS10 1EZ. The current charge for this service is £10.
