It is expected that students should hold a GCSE Grade 9-4 (A*-C) in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent. It is advantageous to have the Level 2 Certificate in Engineering (2800), Level 2 Diploma in Engineering MME (2850) or equivalent in order to be able to satisfactorily complete the course of study. If you are successful at the interview you will be expected to bring the following Personal Protective Equipment: - Safety footwear - Safety overalls are provided for workshop activities. You will also be expected to bring your own writing equipment. Cost: Fee may apply depending on individual circumstance. Introduction

The Level 3 Diploma in Engineering is a qualification which will provide you with a range of technical skills and knowledge enabling you to either gain employment or progression into further training within the Energy and Engineering sector. This qualification is included in the Advanced Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship framework. It can help you to progress in a wide range of engineering maintenance roles. This course is also accredited with UCAS points which can be added to existing or future points for entry onto a Higher Education Course.

What will I learn

The units you will study are likely to include: 301 - Engineering Health and Safety 302 - Engineering principles 306 - Principles of engineering maintenance, installation and commissioning 322 - Power generation systems and ancillary equipment 328 - Maintenance of electrical equipment and systems 330 - Organising and managing engineering operations

How will I learn

You will learn through a range of formats including practical activities, group discussions, self-study periods as well as completing work placements, enrichment and tutorial sessions.

What's next

There are many opportunities within the Advanced Manufacturing, Energy and Engineering sector for employment. You can also progress to a Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering or continue your studies and work towards Higher Education. The qualification is also listed on the Engineering Council's public database for technician related qualifications as having been approved by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) as contributing to the requirements for professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech).
