Bricklaying & Construction

Bricklaying courses at Redcar & Cleveland College are designed to prepare you for work. You will study units that cover all aspects of construction including health safety, information & communication, construction technology, knowledge of building methods and setting out and mixing construction materials. You will also learn how to build structural and decorative brickwork and learn how to repair and maintain masonry structures.

The Level 1 Diploma in Construction is made up of 12 units including brick & blockwork, surface preparation and painting skills, levelling in construction, rendering, wallpapering skills, rainwater goods (guttering and downpipes), joinery and hand tool maintenance.

These courses could be the building blocks of your own career and on completion could put you on the right path to a successful future in the construction industry. During your time on the bricklaying course, we have various competitions that you can actively take part in, these include Skillbuild, The Guild of Bricklayers Competition and Inter College Competitions. These competitions give you the chance to compete against other colleges and to travel to different parts of the region. You will also attend various exhibitions at different venues such as the Birmingham NEC and the London Excel Centre.
