Foundation Learning

Foundation Learning

The Foundation Learning Programme is designed to meet the needs of students who are not yet ready for a full-time programme within a particular vocational area or are unclear of their next steps.

Students may have experienced difficulties at school or college previously and would suit something new which provides a wide range of different opportunities. The programme may also be suitable for young people with learning difficulties. The Additional Learning Support team provide a wide range of services to meet student needs and develop their skills.

Students will work towards an NCFE Entry Level 3 or Level 1 Diploma in Occupational Studies which can be tailored to meet the needs of learners. Units will include a combination of vocational tasters with hands-on experience, Maths and English, sport and group activities, enrichment, social development and enhanced tutorial and study support.

The Occupational Studies qualification prepares learners to move into one of our vocational areas by developing their confidence, self-esteem and ability to work successfully with others. Activities are designed to develop learners’ social, behavioural and employability skills.
