Redcar & Cleveland College is delighted to announce the launch of a new policing course due to start this September. The level 3 Extended Diploma in Policing course is a 2-year course and will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the principles of the police service and to allow you to explore the various career pathways within the Police.

What will I learn on the course?
During this course you will learn about:
• Preparing for a career in the police service
• Equality, diversity and inclusion
• Values and standards in the police service
• Leadership skills
• Crime scene investigations
• Neighbourhood Policing
• UK legal systems and the police service
• Police fitness testing
• Map reading and navigation

How much could I earn for a career in the Police?
The average salary for a police officer is between £21,000 – £41,500. There are lots of different careers in the Police, with roles from police community support officers to scenes of crime officers. All of which carries different job responsibilities and salaries.

What can I do after the course?
This course will provide you with UCAS points to allow you to progress on to higher education to study a range of policing degree programmes or move into employment.

What are the entry requirements?
4 GCSEs grade 4/C or above or a level 2 qualification in a related course.

How will I learn?
Learning on this course will take place through lots of practical teaching sessions. This will include role play, guest speakers, trips, workshops as well as some classroom based sessions. You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence.
