Introduction

If you have a creative flair, style and genuine desire to help people look their best then you might want to consider a career in hairdressing. Once you have the skills, along with the passion and drive to succeed, then the sky is the limit for where this exciting industry can take you, whether that be working in a small salon or jetting off to glamorous locations to be a stylist to the stars. At Redcar & Cleveland College, we can teach you the skills you need to launch your hairdressing career. Our salons are open to the public, giving you a hands-on experience as you develop your creative and practical skills. Please note this course is for students who have already achieved a level 2 qualification in a hairdressing or related course. This is a course for those who wish to progress from Level 2 and develop their Hairdressing skills to an advanced Level 3 standard. It is for students who are already working in the industry and wish to further their career into salon management, teaching and/or training within the Hairdressing industry.

What will I learn

You will learn setting and dressing services, colour corrections and a range of hair colouring services and cutting techniques. Practical sessions will take place within the College’s industry standard hair salon Mosaic, where you will complete a range of services on fully paying customers.

How will I learn

This course offers a wide range of practical and theory sessions which are delivered in our specialist salons and classrooms. In addition to this you will also take part in theoretical sessions, work placement, enrichment and tutorials.

What's next

After you have completed this course you can enter employment as a hair stylist either in a salon or mobile.

Additional Information

MATHS AND ENGLISH: Full-time 16-18 year olds who do not have a grade 4/C or above in maths and/ or English, will attend weekly sessions with specialist tutors to work towards the relevant qualification(s). This is really useful to support you on your main course and is really valued by employers.

You will learn your skillset in our specialist hair and beauty salons in the College.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience working in our on-site salon, Mosaic.
We have strong links with local employers who provide guest talks, work placements and guest talks.
