Introduction

Do you like helping people? Are you someone who cares about other people? The Health and Care sector is growing and is expected to continue growing for many years, and with an aging population it is a vocation that is in demand. Health and Social Care courses at Redcar & Cleveland College is an ideal way to start a career in this extremely rewarding sector. With jobs ranging from nursing to a fully-qualified social worke, this course will put you on the right track.

What will I learn

This course is delivered through a combination of both practical and theory sessions. Practical sessions will take place in our specialist health and social training wing which will provide you with the very best equipment to train with. During the course you will cover key topics such as communication, equality and diversity, human growth and development and safeguarding as well as completing a work placement.

How will I learn

This course offers a wide range of practical and theory sessions which are delivered in our specialist health and social care wing and classrooms. In addition to this you will also take part in theoretical sessions, work placement, enrichment and tutorials.

What's next

After you have completed this course you could progress onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care or secure an apprenticeship. Following this you can enter a vast array of health and social care related roles including nursing, paramedic, radiography, social work, occupational therapist or counselling.

Additional Information

Full-time 16-18 year olds who do not have a grade 4/C or above in maths and/ or English, will attend weekly sessions with specialist tutors to work towards the relevant qualification(s). This is really useful to support you on your main course and is really valued by employers.

You will learn your skillset in our specialist health and social care wing.
You will have the opportunity to take part in amazing course trips to places such as orphanages in Romania.
We have strong links with local employers who provide guest talks, work placements and apprenticeships.
