Army staff are set to march into Redcar & Cleveland College next month to showcase career opportunities in a range of disciplines including; the Veterinary Corp, the Royal Logistics, Army Catering and the Corp of Army Music. The event will give visitors the opportunity to experience units that may not spring to mind when thinking about a life in the armed forces.

Redcar & Cleveland College will host the Army Advantage Day on Friday 5th May 2017 between 10am-4.30pm.

Jane Rishworth, Uniformed Public Services tutor, from Redcar & Cleveland College said: “We are delighted to be hosting this fantastic event for all the family”

“The army offers a variety of routes and this event will provide the perfect opportunity to come along and find out more on all their career options under one roof.”

Attendees will also have the chance to experience what it’s like to be the pilot of a Gazelle Helicopter with the Army Air Corps, get hands-on with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) Bloodhound rocket car project, encode and decode with the Royal Signals, take part in crime scene investigations with the Royal Military Police and experience a Nerf gun artillery range with the Royal Artillery.

Alongside the Army activities, college staff will also be in attendance to provide advice and guidance on all the courses available to study at the college, whether it’s full-time courses for year 11’s or part-time study for adults looking to get back into education.

The college is hoping that this will be a fun-filled event for all the family with a bouncy castle, ice cream van and refreshments available throughout the day.

Jane added: “This event not only opens doors to careers in the Army but opens the doors to the college”

“This is a great chance for the local community to come along and see what their local college has to offer.”
