Learners will be considered on their individual merits although recent relevant learning at level 2 is advantageous. You will be invited to an information session and all applicants will be asked to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to determine places offered.
The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Science is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then an Access to HE course could be for you.
There is no upper-age limit for Access to HE courses. Courses are part time and students can complete the course in one year.
What will I learn
The diploma at Redcar & Cleveland College includes Maths level 2 and 3, Study Skills, Personal Learning and Development. This leads on to a series of graded units at level 3 in Core Science, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics and a scientific practical project in an area of interest.
How will I learn
Class sessions which involve lectures and demonstrations. Interactive learning using IT and the virtual learning environment (VLE). Learners are supported and encouraged to develop independent learning techniques.

Successful applicants can apply to university or progress onto a higher education course with us on a range of degrees. These include midwifery, physiotherapy, radiography, forensic science, engineering, laboratory technician and more.
