Redcar & Cleveland College Research Acknowledged at National Teaching Conference

Catherine & Diana presenting their findings at the TEAN Conference.

Following Redcar & Cleveland College’s recent research on Teachers and Student Support Assistants working effectively together, which was sponsored by the Education and Training Foundation, Dr Catherine McPartland and Di Pearson (MA) were invited to present their findings at the Teacher Education Advancement Network (TEAN) National Conference in Birmingham on 11th May 2018.

Dr Catherine McPartland, Programme Leader in Education at Redcar and Cleveland College, said:

“Being asked to speak at the event was recognition of the hard work the project team have done and I was very proud to represent them. This was a great acknowledgement of our achievements and certainly a huge accolade.

“Speaking at this high profile conference raises the profile of the college and the staff involved. It’s important to show that staff in Further Education are actively involved in research and carry out worthwhile projects which improve the learning experience.”

Di Pearson, Course Leader in Education and Training, added:

“The conference was beneficial with contributions from top universities. We listened to many useful presentations and also had the opportunity to network with staff from other institutions, which was very valuable.”

Director of Teacher Education Advancement Network within the University of Cumbria and organiser of the conference, Dr Alison Jackson, complimented Catherine and Di on the research. Alison has also invited them to submit a research paper to the TEAN Journal, which is an online publication, specifically aimed at teacher educators with the intention of advancing research and scholarly activity across the sector.
