Success for Taylor Wimpey Apprentice

Success for Taylor Wimpey Apprentice

Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire was out in force to celebrate the success of apprentice Alex Waterhouse, who recently won Apprentice of the Year at the annual Redcar & Cleveland College Celebration of Achievement Awards.

Alex has been an apprentice with the national homebuilder for almost two years after being referred by his brother who already worked for the company.

The nomination for the award came from Redcar & Cleveland College brickwork assessor Neil Wheldon who detailed that: “Alex has been a hard worker throughout his time at College and has continued to develop becoming a confident and valued member of the programme”.

The good weather made for high spirits as Alex was joined at the Rose Cottage Farm site in Stainton Village, Middlesborough, by members of the Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire senior management team, a representative from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) along with his tutor and assessor from the College.

Jackie Coultard, managing director for Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, said: “We’re proud and privileged that Alex is part of our team and we’re all thrilled to help him celebrate his recent award.”

Glen Davies, Alex’s Site Manager, described the talent as: “Very committed and someone who takes a lot of pride in his work and is just happy to be on-site getting stuck in to whatever job needs to be done”.

Alex was presented with a cash prize, a trophy and certificate for winning Redcar & Cleveland College Apprentice of the Year award 2018. Unbeknown to Alex, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire also presented him with a cheque as recognition for his continued hard work and effort.

Alex concluded: “It’s been fantastic being an apprentice at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire. I’ve had mentoring on-site as well as a great assessor who visits regularly and access to good training facilities at the College”.

Alex is already preparing to start the next stage of his qualification at Redcar & Cleveland College through CITB.
