Introduction

This is a course developed for trainee technicians and engineers, designers and production personnel working in a manufacturing or process environment within the Instrumentation environment. It develops key underpinning knowledge, skills and understanding associated with in the chemical plant and process plant operations.

What will I learn

Our brand new Engineering and Manufacturing T Level will allow you tospecialise in mechanical engineering and mechatronics. You will learn key industry skills including robotics, programmable logic control, hydraulics and pneumatics, as well as the principles of both mechanical and electrical engineering. You will also undertake a high quality, structured and outcomes-focused industry placement, this is an integral part of the new T Level programme. The industry placement will be aligned to your career aspirations identified in your career plan which will be 750 hours and could include up to two employers.The industry placements will support you to develop a breadth of new skills to provide you with a valuable opportunity to progress towards your career goals.

How will I learn

This course is predominantly theory based with some practical content which is delivered in our specialist engineering workshops. In addition to this you will also take part in work placements, enrichment and tutorials.

What's next

You could progress onto university to study engineering related degree programmes, move into employmentin the engineering sectors or look to secure a higher apprenticeship.

Additional Information

Full-time 16-18 year olds who do not have a grade 4/C or above in maths and/or English, will attend weekly sessions with specialist tutors to work towards the relevant qualification(s). This is really useful to support you on your main course and is really valued by employers.
