The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then an Access to HE course could be for you. There is no upper-age limit for Access to HE courses. Courses are part time and students can complete the course in one year. Access day classes are over three per week; there are evening Access to HE courses also available which usually involve two nights a week.
The diploma at Redcar & Cleveland College includes Psychology, Psychologyof Childhood Adolescence, Sociology, Sociology of Crime Deviance, English Language Studies, History and Maths level 2 and 3.
Class sessions which involve lectures and demonstrations. Interactive learning using IT and the virtual learning environment (VLE). Learners are supported and encouraged to develop independent learning techniques.
You can progress on to a range of degree programmes in history, humanities, social science related subjects or social work. You can also progress onto the following courses: Cert HE in Social Care, FdSc Health, Wellbeing and Social Support and the BSC (Hons) Health and Social Care (Top-up) or FdA Supporting Teaching and Learning, followed by the BA (Hons) Education and Training (Top-up) or BA (Hons) Education and Training (Supporting Teaching and Learning) (Top-up).
