This course prepares you for university study
The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then an Access to HE course could be for you. There is no upper-age limit for Access to HE courses and these can be completed in one year, on a part-time basis.
The diploma is made up of a series of modules which are individually graded, with subjects including: • Level 2 English, Maths and Science Study Skills • Researching and Understanding Opportunities in Higher Education • Personal Learning and Development Level 3 units include Psychology, Values and Practice in Care and Development, English Literature, Sociology and History.
You will learn through class sessions, which involve lectures and demonstrations. Interactive learning will include using IT and the virtual learning environment (VLE). Learners are supported and encouraged to develop independent learning techniques.
You can progress on to a range of degree programmes in history, humanities and social science related subjects or social work. This includes our following higher education courses: • Cert HE in Social Care • FdSc Health, Wellbeing and Social Support • BSC (Hons) Health and Social Care (Top-up) • FdA Supporting Teaching and Learning, followed by the BA (Hons) Education and Training (Top-up) or BA (Hons) Education and Training (Supporting Teaching and Learning) (Top-up).
