Choosing to study for a Teaching Assistant qualification at Redcar and Cleveland College has proven to be the right move for Claire, after securing her first Teaching Assistant role whilst studying for her Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools.



Claire Jarrett, 39, from Redcar enrolled on the level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools in September 2017.  The course  is ran over 33 weeks and combines theory content with at least nine hours of works experience each week for the student.

Previously to studying at Redcar & Cleveland College, Claire was volunteering at a local primary school. However since studying at      the college Claire has been able to secure her first Teaching Assistant role and begin her career in an area she cares passionately about.

She said: ‘Choosing to study for my Teaching Assistant qualification at Redcar & Cleveland College was one of the best decisions I have made. The support and mentoring from all of the course tutors has given me so much confidence and I am hoping to continue my study at the college by progressing onto the Level 3 course in September 2018.’

Course tutor – Lisa Bone added: ‘Claire has been a pleasure to teach and has fully engaged with every aspect of the course.’

‘She has had 100% attendance during the course and has achieved all of her targets. She has all the attributes to have a successful career in education and deserves the opportunity she has received.
