Whether you’ve taken gap years to volunteer or travel the world, or had work, mortgage or family responsibilities, it’s never too late to apply to higher education. It’s a great opportunity to develop new skills and career options at any age.

Higher education can progress your career by increasing your skills or knowledge, allow you to change your career completely and take on a new challenge, or allow you to explore a subject you feel interesting or rewarding. So what’s stopping YOU?

I don’t have the right qualifications…

Don’t worry about whether you are qualified for higher education – often your original education or work experience may be enough, and if not, there are Access courses you can complete to gain entry.

I have childcare commitments…

Free childcare or help with costs for childcare are available for mature students. At Redcar & Cleveland College, we offer free childcare for all students aged 20+.

I can’t afford it…

There are no age limits to student finance, so you can apply for a student loan at any time of life – as long as it’s the first time you’ll be studying for a degree. Look into finance and support from your chosen College or University.

I don’t have time…

Getting your family, friends and employer on board will allow them to help you make time for a higher education course.
