Three Redcar & Cleveland College students, who are studying for the Diploma in Computer Science, have successfully completed their work experience placements within companies in the local area.

Bethany Mableson, Lewis Hughes and Marc Giddins recently finished placements in roles including IT Technicians, Network Support Assistants and IT Support Tutors.

Level 3 student, Bethany, who completed her placement at Visualsoft in Stockton-On-Tees, said:

“I thoroughly enjoyed the work experience. The placement allowed me to take my skills that I learnt in the classroom and put them into practice in industry. I worked on how to develop websites using CSS, HTML and HMP, which I’m really interested in.”

Sam Beel, Course Tutor for Computer Science and IT at the college, is very proud of her student’s dedication:

“It’s a great opportunity for our students to complete work placements in the local community. The experience they gain can help them to progress in their studies and prepares them for when they go into employment.”

Marc is a Level 2 student, who has found Sam’s support invaluable. He commented:

“Sam makes sure that we push ourselves. She sets us targets to ensure that we reach our full potential. When I finish this course I am planning on studying Cyber Security at University – my work experience placement helped to confirm that this is what I want to focus on in the future.”
