This ActiveIQ qualification is designed to provide you with the knowledge to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for patients with a number of medical conditions and common reasons for referral onto a community-based exercise referral scheme.
What will I learn
You will study the following units:
Anatomy & physiology for exercise
Professional practice for exercise referral instructors
Understanding medical conditions for exercise referral
Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
Planning exercise referral programmes with patients
Instructing exercise with referred patients.
How will I learn
Distance learning requires a minimum of 24 hours face to face which is agreed between tutor and learner. Learners have access to ActiveIQ e-learning portal which include interactive videos, tasks activities to supplement the face to face to learning. Perfect for learners who enjoy self-directed study, have completed a level 2 fitness instruction qualification
Redcar and Cleveland College offers a range of short courses for exercise practitioners, which you may want to enrol on upon completion, including kettlebells and suspended movement training.
You will be required to wear a form of sportswear in order to take part in practical lessons in the gym and sports hall.
