Introduction

The level 2 qualification is aimed to teach students all the basics of general plumbing systems including cold water, hot water, central heating and drainage. This course and it’s content can be extremely beneficial for students as the knowledge they gain can be implemented into home life and more practically; it can be used to get into a plumbing career.

What will I learn

This course offers learning through 50% practical sessions combined with 50% theory sessions. You will learn a wide range of plumbing practical skills alongside the theory work which will be assessed to a criteria set. Work experience will be made available to all students who will have the opportunity to work in a real working environment with a plumber onsite.

How will I learn

You will be taught by lecturers who have numerous years’ experience in the plumbing industry working in sectors including domestic plumbing, commercial plumbing and gas. Tutors are aware of the demands of the industry and you will learn this as part of your programme of study to ensure that all students have the best opportunity to become employed in the trade.

What's next

On completion of this course you could look to pursue a range of careers such as an: domestic plumber, heating engineer, gas installer, project manager or bathroom installer.

Additional Information

MATHS AND ENGLISH: Full-time 16-18 year olds who do not have a grade 4/C or above in maths and/or English, will attend weekly sessions with specialist tutors to work towards the relevant qualification(s). This is really useful to support you on your main course and is really valued by employers.

We have strong links with local employers who provide work placements, apprenticeships and guest talks.
The Construction industry in the Tees Valley is growing which could provide many job opportunities.
Our construction workshops are spacious and are equipped with modern equipment and machinery.
