Introduction

Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeships give you the skills needed for careers in joinery, carpentry and shop fitting. Roles may be carried out on construction sites, existing domestic or commercial premises or in workshops.

What will I learn

During this apprenticeship you may follow one of two pathways which may be decided by your employer. Pathway 1: A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities. Pathway 2: An Architectural Joiner will normally be employed in a workshop producing timber architectural products, such as doors, windows, units and staircases, which are then transported to construction sites to be installed by site carpenters.

What's next

On completion of this apprenticeship you may be able progress into Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.

Additional Information

ENGLISH AND MATHS Apprenticeships require a good level of English and maths. Our initial assessment and your GCSE results will help inform us of your ability and what support we can offer to get you to the level required. If you do not hold the relevant GCSEs you will need to complete the Functional Skills qualifications as part of your apprenticeship.
