What support can we provide?
We can arrange taster sessions so you can experience a course session of your choice and decide if it is right for you. We can also provide support during your college interview.
Transition sessions can be arranged to meet your course tutors, learning support staff and allow you to familiarise yourself with the building.
Redcar & Cleveland College offer a range of specialist equipment which is available for learners including specialist software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read and Write Gold.
Students can also be provided with dictaphones, magnifiers and specialist keyboards and laptops.
Coming soon is our Preparing for Adulthood Zone which offers students the chance to learn and engage with key topics in our dedicated zones. These include a community zone, employment zone, health zone and independent living zone.
Study pathways for SEND learners
Whatever your individual goals, we can help you develop the skills you need to achieve. Whether you want to continue in education, start work or live more independently, our personalised courses can help you build the skills and confidence you need. Courses are available from entry level 2 to level 1.
Our bespoke learning groups offers a bespoke learning programme to learners who are wishing to progress on to vocational courses but may require some additional support in making this progression. Learners will achieve a qualification during the programme and will learn within a small and supportive group.
Supported Internships provides learners with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) with the opportunity to engage with an employer where they will take on job roles, responsibilities and work as part of a team in a fully functioning workplace with the support of the learning support team.
Vocational courses are available from level 1 to 3 in a wide range of subjects from construction and hairdressing through to childcare and computing. Entry requirements for each courses vary.
