Level 2 results day offers plenty to celebrate at Redcar and Cleveland College.

Students today received results for their level 2 qualifications as well as GCSEs and functional skills.

Among those achieving were Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery students Liam, 16, and Madison, 18.

The culmination of a year’s hard work, Liam said: “It’s good to have your qualification.”

Madison agreed, saying: “It’s been all right.” Both now plan to move on to their level 3 at the college.

Chloe, 21, also picked up the Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery. She said: “I did plumbing last year and wanted to pick up more trade skills.”

Pleased with her result, the plan is now to move on to a level 3 either in carpentry or engineering.

Of her time at the college, Chloe said: “I have really loved both courses and the tutors have been amazing.”

Also building on his joinery skills was Sam, 21. He said: “It felt great seeing that I had passed and the hard work was all worth it.”

He now plans to move on to the level 3 with the hope of ultimately working in construction.

Of his time at the college, he said: “It has been really good, everyone is so friendly, I feel I can approach the tutors with any questions and I can have a laugh with them as well.”

Levi, 17, has achieved his Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and now plans to develop his skills by studying joinery.

Long term, he said: “I hope to get a job in the plumbing trade and the two subjects seem to fit together nicely.”

Picking up her certificates today, a return to education is proving the right move for Sarah.

The mum-of-three from Teesville achieved her Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.

Now planning to move on to the level 3, she said: “It has been really good, and I really like the feeling of doing it all over again.”

She added: “I was bit nervous starting again but now I am really happy with the choice I made.”
