Adult English Functional Skills (Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2)

Course overview

Functional Skills are a great way to build confidence, improve skills and give you essential English skills for everyday life and work. You will attend a weekly two-hour classroom session and work with experienced tutors who can support you no matter what level you are already at. You may be a complete beginner or just want to refresh your memory and gain an up to date, nationally recognised, qualification. We can support you.

Individual learning plans covering specific problem areas such as:

  • Spelling
  • Punctuation
  • Grammar
  • Letter writing
  • Report writing
  • Improving reading skills
  • Developing communication skills.

<p>No formal entry requirements are necessary. All learners will be required to take an initial and diagnostic assessment to establish working level which will be arranged at enrolment.</p><p>Free, for those who do not have an A* to C /9-4 grade GCSE.</p>

Course information

You will also be expected to complete a range of mock examinations throughout the academic year at a level appropriate to you.

You will sit final examinations, these include:

  • Examinations in Reading and Writing
  • Speaking & Listening tasks
