Course overview
This course offers learners a practical introduction to counselling. Many learners who complete this qualification may wish to progress further with counselling studies, but equally for others it develops their own communication skills and gives them an insight into helping make other informed career and life decisions.
The course comprises of:
- Effective communication skills & will include counselling skills practice
- How to reflect on personal development & identify areas for future development
- Therapeutic models of counselling, ethical frameworks and relationships.
Course information
The course is assessed through various assessment methods such as essays, leaflets and observation of counselling sessions.
The College offers progression onto the Level 3 Access to Higher Education Counselling Diploma.
The course may also be useful for people who hope to progress to careers that involve working with people.

You will take part in Classroom based learning which will incorporate practical fundamental counselling skills. Your tutor will also provide tutorial time to ensure you are on track with assignment work and the subject areas of learning.
