Course overview
This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification is through previous attainment of a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including, mandatory units covering the following: body massage, facial electricals, body electricals, massage with pre-blended oils, monitoring procedures in the salon and client care.
You will develop a high level of competence in providing a range of beauty services. The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a technical qualification aimed at those who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed Beauty Therapist.
This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards for Beauty Therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a Beauty Therapist. Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:
- Facial electrical treatments
- Body electrical treatments
- Client care and consultation
- Anatomy & physiology
- Swedish massage therapy
- Health & Safety in the salon
- Pre-blended aromatherapy massage.
Course information
Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected through a portfolio of evidence. Guidance for this will come from your tutors and assessors. Your assessor may also ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding.
Your assessor will observe your practical performance in assessments, and your pass grade will be determined by achievement of all necessary assessment criteria and completion of additional performance standards.
On completion of this qualification you may choose to undertake further study; qualifications you could progress to include:
- VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy
- VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Permanent Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation
A formal interview is required before acceptance to ensure the course is suitable. All learners must hold a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
This course offers a wide range of practical and theory sessions which are delivered in our specialist salons and classrooms. In addition to this you will also take part in theoretical sessions, work placement within a local salon and also enrichment activities and sessions.
This course is suitable for anyone who holds a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy and wishes to progress onto a more advanced level. You will complete practical experience in Mosaic, our commercial Beauty salon, which simulates a real work environment. You may also have the opportunity to undertake work placement in the Beauty industry, participate in enrichment activities such as spray tanning and gel polish (optional, may incur an additional cost), and get the chance to visit a Beauty exhibition.
