Course overview

If you enjoy helping others, a career in the healthcare sector could be perfect for you. Working in this industry can be extremely rewarding. Our health and social care courses will give you the skills you need to work in one of the many roles available.

During the two-year programme, you willdevelop the core knowledge and skillsthat are needed for entry to a range of health occupations. You will gain an understanding of health and science including: working within the health and science sector; health, safety and environmental regulations; managing information and data; principles of good scientific and clinical practice; core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules and; genetics, microbiology and immunology. You will also undertake a high quality, structured and outcomes-focused industry placement, this is an integral part of the new T Level programme. The industry placement will be aligned to your career aspirations identified in your career plan which will be 315 hours and could include up to two employers. The industry placements will support you to develop a breadth of new skills to provide you with a valuable opportunity to progress towards your career goals.

5 x GCSE at grade 4, or above, and must include a minimum of grade 5 in English, maths and science. You will also require a successful interview.

Course information

You could progress onto university to study health care, nursing or other related degree programmes, move into employment in the health and science sectors or look to secure a higher apprenticeship.
