The hair industry has a large cross-section of people in it, from theatrical makeup experts working in the film industry through to people running and managing their own salons – something for everyone, basically! The industry has a wide range of roles for you, whether you want to work as a hair stylist or if you are more interested in studying make up or massage therapy.
Hairdressing students studying at Level 1 students study, skin care, hair styling, face painting, applying make-up, manicure treatments, temporary colouring, plaiting & twisting hair, personal presentation, creating nail art designs, shampoo & conditioning and creating an image based on a theme.
The Level 2 Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification that is essential for a career in hairdressing, introducing students to cutting, colouring and styling techniques, you will also have the opportunity to enter competitions to further enhance and develop your skills.
The Level 3 Diploma is a specialist award which allows you to greatly develop your hairdressing skills. Building upon your skills you will learn the techniques for colour correction, hair extensions, bridal hair, and creative cutting.
All students benefit from practical learning in Mosaic, our commercial Hair & Beauty Salon, which simulates a real work environment. You may also have the opportunity to undertake additional qualifications and enter competitions. We run professional salons where top quality products are used so you can have the experience in a skilled, real working environment. All of our staff are professionally trained by L’Oreal ensuring all learners have the experience of working with specialised products. We have regular guest speakers and trips to Salon International in London.
