Communications Manager Michael has always enjoyed a fast-paced working environment.

It wasn’t until the possibility of redundancy came along that he started to think about what he really wanted to do as a future career.

Michael said: “I’ve always been a really active person so when I found out my job might not be safe I thought about looking for a more outdoor-based career. I knew that in order to apply for anything I needed to get my GCSE Maths qualification and that’s when I joined Redcar & Cleveland College.”

As a father-of-two with another on the way, Michael needed a course that could fit around his work and family schedule.

Michael added: “My job is a busy one, and along with my home life I wasn’t sure how I was going to fit it all in but the tutors were amazing. They really supported me and personalised the course and without their help I’m not sure I could have fit it all in.”

Michael is now in the process of applying for his dream career.
