What is a supported internship?
This is a programme for students with an Educational Health Care Plan.
Students complete their internship in a real workplace with the support of a job coach and department mentor. Interns also attend a day in the classroom, with sessions that focus on employability and independent living skills.
The programme helps young people to successfully transition into adult life and work towards full-time, paid employment.
What do I get out of the programme?
- You will gain a King’s Trust Certificate in Personal Development and Employability.
- Training experiences in a real workplace.
- Marketable job skills.
- Increased independence and confidence.
- Individualised coaching and daily feedback.
- Development of soft skills e.g. financial literacy.
Who is it for?
Applicants should:
- Have a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Be 18-25 years old
- Have the desire and motivation to achieve aid employment
- Be able to travel independently or willing to learn independent travel skills
