Abi, FdA Early Years student

"Since starting the Early Years foundation degree I have become increasingly passionate about achieving my dream career of becoming an early year’s teacher. I have gained many skills, academically and personally, including academic writing, time management, reflective practice, working with others, research methods and delivering presentations.

As the course is held on an evening, I am able to improve my practice whilst linking my experiences to ongoing assignments and modules, which is greatly beneficial to me as a practitioner. The workload is broken down into manageable and termly slots with regular opportunities to receive support from tutors. I am now thrilled to be starting my third and final year, as the reality of being a fully qualified teacher is in sight."

Alex, HNC Mechanical Engineering alumni

"This course helped me in my job role, as the Plant Maintenance Team Leader at AV Dawson. It allowed me to gain a greater depth of knowledge and understanding and it enabled me to make more informed decisions to help the team overall.

Going back into the classroom was very daunting for me, but the tutors were very helpful and were always approachable."

Sarah, BA (Hons) Education & Training alumni

"I started studying at the College in 2015 on the Level 2 Supporting Teaching & Learning course and have progressed over the last five years to finally completing my last step before commencing my teacher training. Throughout this time, I have learnt many academic and personal skills and have been able achieve things I would never thought possible, which is down to the support given for college tutors, staff and peers.

The BA (Hons) Education and Training course has given me the flexibility to gain a degree whilst working full-time and raising a family. My tutor was fantastic with excellent subject knowledge, providing a relaxed atmosphere in class and she was always on the end of an email when needed.”
