Introduction

Learners will be introduced to the safe use of hand tools and selected woodworking machinery, alongside essential workshop practices and health and safety procedures. Through guided, hands-on projects, students will learn to measure, mark out, cut, assemble, and finish simple joinery components to an acceptable standard.

What will I learn

• Understand basic workshop health and safety requirements • Use common hand tool and power tools safely and effectively • Apply fundamental joinery techniques and joints • Measure and mark out accurately • Produce simple joinery items to level 1 standard • How to install skirting boards and architraves

How will I learn

You will learn through a mixture of 80% practical work and 20% theory.

Course cost: £864 Adult skills funding is available to those unemployed, on an annual income of under £25,750 per year.
