At Redcar & Cleveland College, we can teach you the skills you need to launch your hairdressing career. Our salons are open to the public, giving you a hands-on experience as you develop your creative and practical skills.

Please note this course is for students who have already achieved a level 2 qualification in a hairdressing or related course.

This is a course for those who wish to progress from Level 2 and develop their Hairdressing skills to an advanced Level 3 standard. It is for students who are already working in the industry and wish to further their career into salon management, teaching and/or training within the Hairdressing industry.

You will learn setting and dressing services, colour corrections and a range of hair colouring services and cutting techniques. Practical sessions will take place within the College’s industry standard hair salon Mosaic, where you will complete a range of services on fully paying customers.

Four GCSEs grade 4 or above includingEnglish and maths and a level 2 qualification in a related course.

Course information

You will be assessed through the quality of a service portfolio, graded practial assessments, exams and an externally graded assessment (graded synoptic assessment).

MATHS AND ENGLISH:

Full-time 16-18 year olds who do not

have a grade 4/C or above in maths and/

or English, will attend weekly sessions

with specialist tutors to work towards the

relevant qualification(s). This is really useful

to support you on your main course and is

really valued by employers.
