After 13 years of running her own successful home salon business and raising a family, Beckie has reignited her love for learning with a 10-week Skin Peel Skills Bootcamp.*
With just a few weeks of the course remaining, Beckie reflects on her return to college with a positive outlook and a renewed drive for adult education, only wishing she had done it sooner.

What made you decide to do the Skills Bootcamp?
“I wanted to offer more advanced skin treatments to my clients. I offer gel nails, massage, reflexology, facials, and waxing treatments, but I am always looking to learn new skills to keep up. I like to get new qualifications to boost my professional repertoire.”
What does adult study look like to you?
“I have two kids, aged 17 and 9. Now my eldest is almost fully independent, going back to college is ‘my time’. I set it as a routine. I am at college every Monday and we do theory sessions in the morning and practical sessions in the afternoon.”
How have you found the course as an adult learner?
“The Skin Peel Skills Bootcamp has been really beneficial for me. I would 100% recommend it. I have really enjoyed being a student again. I will be sad when it’s over.”
What’s next for you?
“After the course is finished, I will get my certificate and my insurance and start offering the treatment from my salon. In the future, I will be keeping my eyes open for more Skills Bootcamps or potentially look to do a part time course in aesthetics.”
