We love hearing about our students success and GCSE results day didn't fail to deliver.

Well done to everyone who achieved the grades they were hoping for.

We caught up with a few students to find out what their results mean to them...

Sue

It might have taken a handful of attempts over the years, but that has only made achieving her GCSE Maths feel all the sweeter for mum-of-two Sue.

The 50-year-old picked up a hard-earned grade 4 from Redcar and Cleveland College after signing up to an online course.

A designer with the NHS, she explained how, at first, she found the flexibility of online learning easier to fit around the commitments of work and family life.  But with the option of face-to-face sessions, a combination of both quickly saw her progress fly.

Despite feeling the nerves, Sue said her result this week came as a very welcome surprise.

Owen

The hard work has well and truly paid off for Owen.

The 19-year-old achieved a grade 4 in his GCSE English this week.

Having just completed his first year on the Level 3 Diploma in Public Services with a distinction star, the grade 4 in his English came as a welcome bonus.

And he admits, feeling the nerves in the run up to results day, achieving his GCSE came as bit of a relief.

Good luck with you studies next year Owen!

Susan

Never much of a fan of maths at school, picking up her GCSE this week shows a marked change in approach by Susan.

Working as a teaching assistant, it’s no surprise she has developed her own “thirst to learn”.

While maths wouldn’t have been her first choice at school, today she has found she enjoys the challenge.

Achieving a grade 5, the 39-year-old from Marske was quick to praise her teachers.

She said: “Tina is brilliant and has always been super patient with me and the other students. She helped me get through the course and made everything easier by explaining things at length.”

Jordon

Health and social care student Jordon has moved a step closer to her ambition to become a paramedic after achieving her GCSE English this week.

The 19-year-old from Middlesbrough told how, achieving that grade 4 has taken multiple attempts.

So, she described finally making the grade this week as a pleasant surprise.

Well done Jordon!
