The AAT website has stated “Our qualification is based on real-world knowledge, supported by in-depth expertise. Its value is so widely known that firms like Vodafone, the NHS, the Metropolitan Police and KPMG actively seek AAT qualified staff for their knowledge, skills, diligence and enthusiasm.”
The AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping introduces students to manual bookkeeping. The qualification covers a range of skills such as:
- The duties and responsibilities of the bookkeeper
- To understand financial transactions
- How to process customer and supplier transactions
- How to process receipts and payments

Each unit has a computerised exam
AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. But it does help if you have some maths skills.
£900 **Discuss with your tutor as you may be exempt**
£50 resit fee for any exam that needs to be retaken (no exemption)
The main method of teaching is through lectures and workshops where accounting skills are developed and tested. The focus is on passing exams and therefore exam technique is emphasised.
