Course overview
The AAT is recognised throughout the business world as a credible and established professional body. It is a qualification that accurately reflects competence in the workplace and continues to bear the hallmarks of quality and high standards.
This is a course for Trainee Accountancy Technicians and those individuals who have an interest in pursuing a career in Accountancy.
The course covers:

- Financial Accounting, preparing financial statements
- Management Accounting Techniques
- Tax processes for businesses
Course information
There are four computer-based assessments. Four-unit assessments cover:
- Business Awareness
- Financial Accounting, preparing financial statements
- Management Accounting Techniques
- Tax processes for businesses
On successful completion of the Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting, students may progress to the Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting. Or you could be officially licenced and regulated by the AAT to practice in VAT, Payroll or bookkeeping.
You are required to have either a full Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting or have experience of working in an Accounting environment. You are required to register with the Association of Accounting Technicians (cost inclusive of course fees). If you do not have a sound understanding of Double Entry Principles, Control Accounts and Bank Reconciliations you are advised to start at the AAT Level 2 stage. Each student begins a six-week trial with a skills test (of what you have learned up to week 4) to ensure that the course is suitable for you. You must pass the skills test to continue on the course.

£50 resit fee for any exam that needs to be retaken (no exemption)
You will take part in classroom-based learning supervised by a tutor: e.g. classroom teaching; working through real-life scenarios that support this learning. There is an expectation that you will also commit to additional learning outside of college that will help under pinning knowledge for this qualification. Your tutor will also provide tutorial time to ensure you are on track assessment task and support you in completing the unit examinations.
